Anthony C. Williams specializes in California governmental, legislative and regulatory law. He is the former Policy Director and Special Counsel to California Senate President pro Tempore, Darrell Steinberg. From 1999 to 2004, Anthony was as a Principal Consultant to then-Senate President Pro Tem John Burton where he also advised the California Senate on issues related to the judiciary, criminal justice, privacy, and finance and banking.
He has also served as a legislative advocate for the Judicial Council of California and a Senior Executive and Chief Lobbyist for the State Bar of California. In 2007, he co-founded the Wada Williams Law Group, LLP, a Sacramento based law and lobbying firm. Anthony has represented clients in regulatory, civil and criminal matters in the federal and state courts. He currently directs government relations for a Fortune 25 company covering federal, state and local governments in California. In 2014, he was appointed by Governor Edmund G. “Jerry” Brown to serve on the California Fish and Game Commission. He is also founder and president of the Stand Strong Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to developing excellence in youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Anthony received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from U.C. Davis, a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law with distinction.
Anthony firmly believes that the key to a successful lawyer working on behalf of the client is preparation, preparation, preparation along with fearless advocacy. He is an avid high-handicap golfer who, above all, enjoys spending time with his wife and three school-aged children.
